This year Music Mania celebrates its 20th anniversary On-Air. We launched on Sunday 4th June 1995.
The show has now moved from Sunday evenings to Thursday evenings.
This has meant some big changes to the show.
The Music Mania Happy Hour-
This has been axed with its last broadcast on 31st May. The Happy Hour first launched on 20th July 2003 meaning it almost had a 12 year run.
This show launched on 8th February 2004 and very nearly faced the chop from Music Mania from this June as it was questioned whether a chart show on a Thursday would lose its relevance. However it was then announced that the singles and albums charts will now be revealed on Fridays, instead of Sundays, and all new releases now come out on Fridays instead of Mondays. This means that we can still bring you a relevant chart show on a Thursday night.
Chart Central took a short break from 17th May and then relaunched on Thursday 16th July and can now be heard at 9.30pm each Thursday.
Music Mania Bitesize-
This show has been axed. This spin-off mini version of the show launched on 13th March 2012 and has brought snippets of the main Sunday show to a weekday audience. However, with the introduction of Apple FM’s ‘Listen Again’ service there is no longer a need for a re-cap show and it broadcasted for the final time on Tuesday 19th May.
The last Sunday Music Mania was on Sunday 31st May 7-10pm and the new Thursday show launched at 8pm on 4th June, which was also the show’s 20th Birthday. The new Thursday show has introduced a brand new look and sound to Music Mania, in fact a complete re-launch with fresh new jingles, a new logo and even a new tagline.
